Ben Brooks is Head of Public Policy for Stability AI. Engaging policymakers around the world, Ben works to promote transparency and competition in AI through open innovation in models. Ben has testified before the US Congress and UK Parliament, engaged closely with the EU to protect the open ecosystem in its AI Act, and represented open researchers and developers everywhere from the White House to the inaugural AI Safety Summit. Previously, Ben has advocated for the safe, fair, and durable regulation of emerging technology with some of the world's most innovative companies. These include Uber, Coinbase, and Google's drone delivery service, Wing, America's first certified drone "airline". Ben has worked with authorities on the ground in ~25 countries, from Brussels to Burma, as they navigate complex reforms for automated technology in high-stakes and permission-based domains. Ben is based in San Francisco, and holds degrees in law and history.
